Becoming a Soul Winner
Peter asked the multitude present to “repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. —-And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, ‘Be saved from this perverse generation’” Acts 2:38, 40. That day saw about “three thousand souls added to them” Acts 2:41. This is the call to all of us who have accepted Christ as the Lord of our life. How many of us though are answering the great commission? When was the last time you told someone about the good news?
Today we have Scientist working day and night to find a cure for many diseases that the human race is faced with. Many organizations have been formed to raise awareness of such diseases and to seek support. Can you imagine a scientist finding a cure of a certain disease and keeping quiet about it? Surely most of these people do this because they want to save lives. Sometimes the passion to get a cure is caused by a personal experience which make the person wants to do something about the dilemma.

Four Steps to personal success
If you are already happy and you know that you are not dependent on more money to be happy, greater wealth can make you happier but is not the condition for your happiness. The more you think that money is capable of making you happy the more you give away your power to be happy without it. In his book “How to get what you want and want what you have”, John Gray suggests the following four steps in achieving personal success;
Step one: Set your intention- Recognize where you are now and clearly see where you need to go to achieve the right balance of inner and outer success for you. In other words “be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” Romans 12:2. Ask God for the direction of your life.

The causes, diagnosis and treatment of Autistic Disorder
Common Signs of Autism
There are three distinctive behaviors that characterize autism. Autistic children have difficulties with social interaction, problems with verbal and nonverbal communication, and repetitive behaviors or narrow, obsessive interests. These behaviors can range in impact from mild to disabling. The hallmark feature of autism is impaired social interaction. Parents are usually the first to notice symptoms of autism in their child.
As early as infancy, a baby with autism may be unresponsive to people or focus intently on one item to the exclusion of others for long periods of time. A child with autism may appear to develop normally and then withdraw and become indifferent to social engagement. They may also fail to respond to their name and often avoid eye contact with other people.

Dealing with Natural disasters from a mental health perspective
In America there have been tornadoes and fires that have caused loss of lives and left many devastated. One can therefore say that we live in a very troubled world today. While the effect of personal crisis is nonetheless painful or traumatic for the individual, the disasters that occur on a larger scale may need a different approach from the mental health professional. In the case of a huge disaster, the environment could be best described as chaotic.
In an article titled “Survivors of Natural Disasters and Mass violence” the authors consider three issues often asked by survivors which are; what psychological problems one is likely to experience as a result of surviving a disaster, 2ndly, factors increasing the risk of readjustment problems, and 3rdly things survivors can do to reduce the risk of negative psychological consequences and how best to recover from disaster stress.

Why The Muslim Cleric, Sheikh Abdullah Faisal is persona-non-grata inKenya
When the government announced that it had arrested him and was deporting him, at first Kenyan Muslims community was up in arms because they saw it as victimization because of his faith. However the minster in charge of immigration emphatically stated that the cleric was not being deported because he was a Muslim but “We are deporting him because of his terrorist history and the fact that he is on the international watch-list”. It should be noted that the sheikh’s passport shows that he had been denied entry in Kenya before and this is perhaps why he chose to use the road.

Modern Day slavery in the Middle East
I have on several occasions heard of stories of how when these people get there their passports are confiscated by their employers. They are made to work under conditions that would pass as slavery. The Daily Nation Newspaper of Kenya has a story revealing of some of the mistreatment that such workers undergo. There is a story of a Kenyan woman who had gone to Work in Saudi Arabia as a domestic worker who is accusing her employer of throwing her out of a third floor window, breaking her legs and hands.

Sex Trade, children as objects of trade
One of the things that I can never fathom is when the world became so corrupt that we have people paying to sleep with children. Is it only me but does the thought of it make anyone else feel murderous angry just to think of it. I set out to establish how widespread this evil is prevalent in the world and I have been surprised at what I found. Obviously with the rise of the Internet and pornography being available to all and sundry the trade has expanded. The perverted nature of men is demonstrated in this acts of perversion.
My research shows that cases of child prostitution prevail in all countries because of the demand. Most of the victims come from poor families or have parents who are absent physically or emotionally. But the worst are those that are kidnapped and trafficked as sex slaves in brothels or sold to foreign countries.

Exercising Goodness to others
If society functioned the way God intended it to we would have few people living in the kind of misery that we witness today. Greed and lack of love has infiltrated our thinking and the saying that it is a world where only the fittest survive becomes true. In the book of Deuteronomy God told the children of Israel that, “you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs—. For the poor will never cease from the land, therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your hand,’” Deuteronomy 15:8, 11.

The Ideal Woman
The book of Proverbs presents a portrait of an ideal woman who is a total contradiction of the woman portrayed by Hollywood as attractive and desirable. This woman is full of character, wisdom, compassion and has many skills that she utilizes for the betterment of her family. Her husband trusts her because “she does him good and not evil” (Proverbs 31:11). This is the kind of woman who is responsible for the family’s budget and weighs everything first before acting. Her husband has learnt to share with her everything because he benefits from her wisdom.

Important lessons from the Tiger Woods Saga
We live in a world where sexuality is glorified as the light of the world. Even simple advertisement for things like food have sexual connotation. Human trafficking for sexual purposes is on the increase because there are men out there willing to pay to for their perverse lifestyle at the expense of another’s freedom. In the glamorous world we have the escort business thriving and call girls being elevated to the place of goddesses.

What is your vision for the New Year?
At the beginning of each year many of us have high hopes and dream of how things will be better. We make resolutions and set goals with the hope that they will come to pass. But many of the so called resolutions and goals are not met because while we are quick to make the resolution or goals we do not provide for the ways or means of achieving them. We do not set time frames and neither do we consider the challenges that we may encounter. If we did all these we would be better prepared to meet the challenges ahead and give our dreams the opportunity to come to pass.
Between your dream and its fulfillment you will be tested. Sometimes you might be the only one who believes on the dream and therefore find that you will need faith to sustain you. The story of Joseph and how he sustained his dream is worthy considering. He had to maintain his faith in a hostile environment, and believe in a dream nobody else believed in. He had no dreamer’s support network cheering him on, he had to stand alone. All he had was his faith based on his knowledge of God. God rewarded Joseph’s zeal for Him for scripture says that “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for He who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” Hebrews

Be converted in your thinking
Satan defeated humans in the Garden of Eden through the use of words. His words created doubt in Eve and she eventually acted on the words, Genesis 3:1-6. God had already spoken His word concerning the things that Satan tempted Eve with, but she allowed herself to ponder on Satan’s words and the more she thought about them the more swayed she was. It is therefore not surprising that God had to send His word to repair the damage done in the Garden of Eden. Apostle John writes, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. He was in the beginning with God” John 1:1-2. http://relijournal.com/christianity/be-converted-in-your-thinking/ for further reading

What are you hearing and where is your faith?
Have you ever felt so confident about something and had such faith about it and then you heard a nay sayer and your faith was completely shattered? I have found every time I attest to something my faith is tested on what I have attested to. Recently something drastic has happened to test the faith of someone that I receive emails from frequently. This person is an inspiration to many in the Christian business sector and writes blogs and words of encouragement to others. Not long ago he decided to venture in the area of healing attesting that God is still in the business of healing. http://relijournal.com/christianity/what-are-you-hearing-and-where-is-your-faith/ for further reading

Rule to live by for the betterment of your life
O G Mandino is one of those writers who I consider to have been inspired by the Holy Spirit in his writings and teachings. His writings resonate with Biblical principles an indication that he found his worth and inspiration from the scriptures. In his book “A better way to live” he states that “when God gave us dominion over the world, He also gave us dominion over ourselves. We each plot our own map. God is our navigator---God bestowed on each of us intellect and talent and vision to map our own way, to write our own book of life in any manner we chose” (P.46). He reminds us that our worth is always determined by our deeds not by our good intention, however noble. Indeed James in his epistle writes “--- faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” James 2:17.

Marijuana-What's next?
It seems to be a cultural way of maturation but without the consideration of the consequences. Someone told me that its use is so common that those who do not smoke it are seen as the odd one out in most colleges. My main concern is the effect it has on the mental health of these young people. This issue became of importance to me when two young people close two me ended up having mental issue in their late teens. Both were users of marijuana before the mental break up. I decided to do some investigation to find out whether there was any research on this issue. My investigation did confirm that there is indeed research confirming my suspicion.

When injustice is reversed
Africans have endured slavery and colonization because their oppressors believed they were inferior and they deserved to be subjected to humiliation. This has resulted in Africans being left behind economically and politically even after independence. The independence is also marred by a lot of injustices due to controls by powers from without based on economic and political might. Most Africa nations are captives of the Western world through institutions like the World Bank and the International monetary fund (IMF).

Ways to discover your life's mission
A lot of people feel bored and frustrated by life because they find no meaning for living. The same things go on daily and they wonder whether all they see is all there is to life. Until one finds the purpose of their being this kind of feelings is likely to linger because one lives a meaningless life. To some the feeling of nothingness may come earlier and to others later in life. The fact of the matter is that we are not here by accident. No child is unwanted because before God allowed that child to be conceived, He had established the purpose for the child’s existence. It is our responsibility to find out what that purpose is.

What is your potential?
We are all born with a potential to fulfill our mission in life. Our lives are not just accidents of nature but we all have a purpose and the potential to fulfill the purpose. Your potential or ability should never be measured by the limitations of an academic test or an IQ score nor should it be measured by the social, cultural, economic and educational norms of society. Many people short change themselves and follow society’s norms and end up taking a job as opposed to aligning their potential with God’s will for their life. They wonder why they feel unsettled and unfulfilled in their jobs.

Turn Aside and listen
Do you feel like your life has lost direction? Maybe you feel that all you could achieve in this lifetime is in your past. Perhaps ten years ago you were a “somebody” wielding a lot of power and influence. People looked up to you and respected you because of who you were. Today that seems like a long time ago and you are a shadow of your past. You are alone perhaps doing what you never thought you could be doing today and living a lifestyle that you only associated with “certain” people. You are dishonored and ignored everywhere you seem to go. Well you are not the only going through this and neither are you are the first.

The process of change
When we accept Christ in our lives we die to the self and submit to Christ’s leadership as directed by the Holy Spirit. This is not easy because we are used to thinking in a particular way based on worldly standards. Although we have accepted to be drafted into the kingdom of God, we are still in the world and struggle with worldly pursuit that clash with spiritual values.
Paul writes, “I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members” Romans 7:22-23. The Holy Spirit teaches us and guides us how to live under kingdom principle and direct us towards the narrow path. We however have input in how change will happen because we still retain our will.

A bibical perspective of Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage
For one to properly address the issue of divorce and remarriage, it is important to go back to the genesis of marriage and the purpose of marriage from a Biblical perspective. God created every beast of the field and every bird of the air out of the ground and brought them to Adam “to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature that was its name. —. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him” Genesis 2:19, 20 NKJV. God had declared that “it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper” (Genesis 2:18). Eve was subsequently created not from the dust but from Adam’s flesh and bone. Considering that every creature was formed from the earth apart from Eve, God was in effect communicating that the man and the woman were one complete unit and through marriage they symbolically become one.

The problem of a single story
One of the things I have observed through my many travels and interaction with people is how we humans judge others by a single story. We assume that because someone is from a particular place or ethnic group then what we know about that group must be true as concerns the person. This is how stereotypes arise and we continue to perpetuate them by using them against people or places we don’t know. These single stories are told within a country and within a continent and so you find in the same country or continent certain stereotypes about a particular people based on a single story used to define the people.

The Act of Forgiveness
Many times I hear people exhibit in anger wishes for death or some form of evil to someone who has hurt them or committed some heinous crime against them or their loved ones. We live in a world where everyone talks of their rights. People are quick to rush to court to enforce their rights and therefore the element of forgiveness in line with scripture requirements is laughable. We say that people should pay for what they did and when someone gets a sentence that we feel is less than we anticipated we cry wolf. It seems in this era of rights people are more vengeful and they want to draw the last blood. They vow to never to forgive the person for the acts committed against them. This kind of response I have heard with both Christians and non Christians alike.

Don't lose your Dream: You are on your way.
Have you found yourself in a place in life and wondered how you got there or what you are doing there? Sometimes life just does not seem to add up. Perhaps you were raised up in a nice family, had a good education and expected that everything would work out well for you according to the standards of the world. Today you look at your life and wonder what went wrong or why things are not what you anticipated. You wonder whether it is worthwhile to keep on striving when nothing seemingly seems to work. Well do not give up on yourself or life yet. The most important thing when examining your life is to first establish what your purpose is. You may just be surprised to find that things as they are actually make sense. This will help you persevere in the journey you are in.
